History of Bandy
Bandy was created and established in England during the late nineteenth century as a desired gentleman's sporting event. Introduced to Sweden in 1894 Bandy quickly spread through Scandinavian and Eastern European Countries overnight.
With over a dozen professional European leagues and tournaments Bandy has become one of Europe's premier sports which is governed by the FIB (Fedrarion of International Bandy). Read more »

Canada took the silver medal in the B pool at the World Bandy Championships beig held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.Canada defeated Hungary by a score of 9 - 2.Canada was led by Nick Mazurak and Evgeny Opytov who had 3 goals each, while Brandon Ellement added a pair. Brendan Pearson contributed a single.This is the same result for Canada as last year.
Canada won its third game at the World Bandy Championships being held in Almaty, Kazakhstan with a 13-2 win over Latvia. Led by Nick Mazuarak's 3 goals, the Canadian squad ends roud robin play with a 3-1 record. They willl now play Hungary on Saturday for the Silver medal in the B pool.
Other Canadian scorers were Brandon Ellement, Brett Gavrailoff, and Evgeny Opytov all with two, and singles from Kevin Clarke, Jeff Krul, Roman Namuniak and Brain Bell. Paul Ralph addes 4 assits.
Canada wins at world Bandy Championships The Winnipeg based Canadian Mens Bandy team captured their first win at the World Bandy Championships being held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Team Canada defeated Holland by a score of 11-1. Leading 5-1 at the half. Canada was led by Brett Gavrailoff and former Winnipegger Evgeny Opytov with 3 goals each, Brandon Ellement with two, and singles from Ralph Mark, Brennan Pearson and Jordan Ducheminsky. Canada next plays against Hungary on Wednesday, followed by matches against Belarus and Latvia.
